TQUK Level 3 Award in Education & Training (RFQ)

The TQUK Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET) is designed to introduce learners to the principles of teaching and training in further education, adult education, and professional training environments. It provides the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to plan, deliver, and assess effective learning sessions.

This qualification is ideal for individuals looking to become teachers, trainers, or assessors in colleges, private training providers, or workplace settings. It is also suitable for professionals who deliver on-the-job training as part of their role and want to develop their teaching skills further.

The course covers core teaching principles, including understanding learner needs, effective lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment techniques. It also explores inclusive teaching methods, helping learners to support a diverse range of students with different learning styles and abilities.

Unlike higher-level teaching qualifications such as the Certificate in Education (CertEd) or the PGCE, this Level 3 Award does not require a formal teaching placement. Instead, learners will complete a micro-teaching session, where they deliver a short lesson to their peers and receive feedback on their teaching style and techniques.

• Learners must be at least 19 years old.
• No formal teaching experience is required.
• A good standard of English, Maths, and ICT is beneficial for completing written assignments and teaching practice.
• Learners must complete at least one micro-teaching session as part of the assessment.

• Roles, Responsibilities, and Boundaries of a Teacher/Trainer – Understand the key responsibilities of a trainer or educator and how to maintain professionalism in teaching.
• Understanding Learner Needs and Characteristics – Explore different learning styles, needs, and barriers to learning, ensuring inclusive teaching practices.
• Lesson Planning and Teaching Strategies – Learn how to plan structured, engaging, and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning preferences.
• Delivering Engaging and Interactive Lessons – Develop skills in public speaking, classroom management, and instructional techniques.
• Assessment and Feedback in Education – Understand how to use assessment methods (formative and summative) to evaluate learner progress.
• Using Inclusive Teaching Methods – Explore techniques for supporting learners with special educational needs (SEN), disabilities, or language barriers.
• The Importance of Reflective Practice – Learn how to evaluate your own teaching performance and continuously improve your skills.
• Micro-Teaching Session – Apply your knowledge by delivering a short teaching  session to your peers, followed by constructive feedback.

This qualification opens doors to various teaching and training roles, including:

• Further Education (FE) Teaching Assistant or Lecturer
• Workplace Trainer or Corporate Trainer
• Private Tutor or Freelance Trainer
• Adult Education Teacher
• Assessor or Learning & Development (L&D) Officer 

Upon completing this qualification, learners can progress to:

• TQUK Level 4 Certificate in Education & Training (CET)
• TQUK Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training (DET) (a recognised qualification for full teaching roles)
• Specialist qualifications in Assessing or Internal Quality Assurance (IQA)
• Employment as a tutor, trainer, or adult education teacher

As part of your course, you will receive a 1-2-1 induction session with your tutor via Microsoft Teams. This session is designed to help you get started, set clear goals, and ensure you have the right support in place for a successful learning experience.

• Individual Learning Plan (ILP) Creation – Your tutor will work with you to develop a personalised learning plan, outlining key milestones and ensuring your studies align with your goals.
• Target Setting – Together, you’ll set realistic and achievable targets to help you stay on track and motivated throughout your course. 
• Additional Support Needs – If you require any extra support or adjustments, this is the perfect opportunity to discuss your needs so we can tailor our support to you.

All assessments for your course are set and marked internally to ensure a high standard of learning and feedback. Simply submit your work to your dedicated course tutor, who will carefully review your assessments and provide constructive feedback to support your progress.

Once you have successfully completed all required assessments, your work will go through our Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) process. This ensures that marking is consistent, fair, and meets the required standards. During this process:

 Your assessments may be moderated by an internal quality assurer to verify accuracy and consistency.

 This additional review helps maintain the integrity and credibility of your qualification.

 If any further amendments are needed, you’ll be provided with clear guidance on what to improve.

Once your work has passed through the IQA process and meets all necessary standards, your certification will be issued, officially confirming your successful course completion.
